Dec. 13 FROM 6:30 TO 9:30 PM

AT EMPIRE CONTROL ROOM

Celebrate good women, c'mon! *happy dance* It's our last meet of 2017, y'all. Last year, we closed out 2016 with a burning yuletide bra and the introduction of our Babe of the Year Awards. This year, we're doing it up bigger and better with another round of awards, a toy drive, a small selection of local vendors and other surprises. Come on out!

β€” FEATURED MAKERS β€”

Shira Melody Jewelry
The designs and inspiration for this line all come from designer Shira McManus. Completely self taught, jewelry design has always been second nature to Shira, whose been designing and creating jewelry since she was sixteen. In 2011, ready to turn her beloved hobby into a full time gig, Shira quit her day job and hasn't turned back since. Now living in Austin, TX with her hubby and baby girl, her home serves as a constant creative influence on her ever evolving designs. The Shira Melody collection can now be found in over 300 retailers nationwide.

ADM
Handmade and loom-woven, ADM timeless, comfortable pieces are made right here in Austin, Texas.

The Fox Den
A woman-owned shop featuring plants, home and lifestyle goods, The Fox Den has become known for their well-curated greenery and the vibe of their brick-and-mortar.

Krama Wheel
The krama wheel collection is for wanderers and wonderers who take on each day with style and purpose. Each krama wheel product is hand-loomed by a weaver in Cambodia's TakΓ©o province, and for every purchase, the following occurs: one weaver is paid fairly, treated respectfully, and better able to support her family, one local seamstress is paid to sew a school uniform, one child gets a uniform so he or she can attend school.

Las Ofrendas
As an independent artist and organizer of Frida Friday ATX, La Luna Llena Market and Fuego - Queer Market, TK Tunchez is the lead visionary at Las Ofrendas. We've invited her to pop up at this meet-up to vend her coronas and chat a bit with interested vendors about 2018 market opportunities. Stop by her table to learn more!

Our December topic question
This month's topic Q will be accompanied by a small installation from an inspiring session led by our Projects & Ops lead Maureen Nicol during the Girls Empowerment Network's We Are Girls Conference. During Maureen's sessions, her students answered: "What would you like to share with the world?" We'll display a collection of their answers, while collecting one from you. This month's topic question is If you were to write a letter to your younger self, what would you say? Anonymous answers will later be shared on our blog.

#bossbabesATX photobooth by Jinni J
Grab a complimentary portrait from Jinni J, a contemporary photographer and artist based in Austin, Texas.

Live installation by #bossbabesATX Winter '17 URL Artist, Marianna Pasaret
At every meet, we introduce a new artist based in Austin, Texas. For December '17, we've selected Marianna Pasaret; on top of painting a live installation onsite, Pasaret's imagery will be sprinkled throughout the venue. Pasaret is an artist from Monterrey, Mexico who has pursued her art studies in Parsons, NY, San MIguel de Allende and Austin TX. Since 2015 she has been exploring different mediums and is currently focused on drawing. At this time, she is also in the process of completing her first major art project titled The Heart Project. The inspiration for most of her recent work comes from different women that have impacted her life. Through collage, she combines work from her favorite artists, like Malevich and Michelangelo, with the women she has selected as muses to present them as admired art.

We're collecting toys!
At every meet, we strive to give back. In the spirit of the holidays, we'll be collecting small- to medium-sized NEW toys at this meet-up. If you're interested in assisting with the collection and distribution of these toys, please email thebabes@bossbabes.org.
